here's another list of freewares people might want to use for general purpose

an important tip when making your computer to run faster is read what you're installing so don't use express install, many lazy ppl make this mistake and gets their computer/browsers messed up

Agree with most of the list, except perhaps the defrag (I prefer Iorbit's Smart Defrag).

Also a minor correction (I think) -> Daemon Tools being a Virtual Drive, not driver.

(call me a nazi, but whatever, my intentions are good)

I've used CCleaner for the longest time now, it's a godsend, I really have no idea how I got a long without it.

Zonealarm is a memory hog, and Total Commander is great, I'll add that one.

A lot of people need text editors, so I'll suggest Notepad++ and Editpad

Re-stickied since now this game has had a lot of players and posts regarding computer issues and maintenance. Figure this would be a good place to start.

Hi,

Nice list of recommended software. I will put this site:

http://www.opensourcewindows.org/

It is a list of free software for windows operating system with good programs. I recommend:

- MPlayer (for me is the player that reads almost all codecs and has a great encoding tool - dont forget to download the codecs too).
- Gimp : photo editor.
- Paint.net : another image editor
- 7-zip : archiving - compressing tool.

Ok Byebye!
